But in short, the term encompasses the aim of giving customers an individualised online experience based on their unique characteristics, demographics, and data (including previous purchases, persona, interests, search, and buying behaviour). Good examples of personalisation include marketing emails targeting a specific user behaviour (such as abandoning a basket), or recommendations based on real-time data (such as location or time).
