What is discreet shipping?

Discreet shipping means sending an order in packaging that doesn’t show what is inside or which shop it came from. The parcel has a plain box or mailer, a neutral sender name on the label and no product names, logos or images on the outside. It protects customers’ privacy, and it also makes valuable items less likely to be stolen in transit.

Core principle: Discreet shipping hides the contents from neighbours, postal staff and thieves, but never from customs or the carrier’s required paperwork.

Which products are shipped discreetly?

  • Health and personal care products, such as medical devices, incontinence or intimate products
  • Supplements and weight-loss products
  • Adult products
  • Gifts, where the recipient shouldn’t see the brand before opening
  • High-value items, such as electronics, jewellery and designer goods, to reduce theft

What makes a shipment discreet

Plain outer packaging

A neutral brown box or mailer without logos, product images or printed tape.

Neutral sender name

A company or abbreviation that doesn’t reveal the product, for example a holding company name instead of the shop name.

No product information outside

No packing list or invoice visible through a window pocket; documents go inside the box.

Discreet card statement

The payment provider shows a neutral business name on the customer’s bank statement. This is set up with the payment provider, not the warehouse.

What discreet shipping can’t hide

For shipments that cross a customs border, for example from the EU to the UK, Switzerland or Norway, the customs declaration must describe the contents accurately. A vague or false description can delay the parcel or lead to penalties. Discreet shipping also doesn’t change product rules: regulated products still need the right labels on the product itself.

Example: A wellness brand sells intimate-care products across Europe. Its fulfilment warehouse packs every order in a plain brown mailer with the sender name “WH Logistics”, puts the branded box and invoice inside, and prints labels with no product details. Reviews mentioning discreet delivery become one of the brand’s top reasons for repeat orders.

Discreet shipping with a fulfilment provider

Most fulfilment warehouses can set up discreet packing per brand or per order: neutral packaging, a neutral return address and documents packed inside. Agree the rules once, and they apply to every order automatically. See value-added services and eCommerce fulfilment.

Frequently asked questions

What does discreet shipping mean?

The order is sent in plain packaging with a neutral sender name and no visible information about the contents.

Can customs see what’s in a discreet parcel?

Yes. Parcels crossing a customs border must have an accurate customs declaration, so discreet shipping only hides the contents from the outside of the box.

Does discreet shipping cost more?

Usually not much. Plain packaging is often cheaper than printed packaging; the main effort is setting up the rules once.
